Bonnie L. Gekeler – March 23, 1945 – July 11, 2011

            Private graveside in-urnment services will be held at a later date for Kit Carson resident Bonnie L. Gekeler.

            Bonnie was born March 23, 1945 at Woodward, OK. To William Meyer and Evaline Beard-Meyer and departed this life on Monday July 11, 2011 at Keefe Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne Wells, CO. at the age of 66.

            Per the family’s request cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation.

            Mrs. Gekeler was preceded in death by her father William Meyer of Lamar, CO. on Sept. 3, 1963; by her mother Evaline M. Meyer of Lamar, CO. on April 1, 1966; by her husband Gerald R. Gekeler of Kit Carson, CO. in 1995; by two brothers Elvin Meyer of Lamar, CO. and Mervin Meyer of Denver, CO.; and by two sisters Aline Cody of La Junta, CO. and Shirley Wicker of Lamar, CO..

            Bonnie is survived by her son Richard (Alexis) Gekeler of Kit Carson, CO.; by two granddaughters Allison Gekeler and Allyssa Gekeler, both of Kit Carson, CO.; by one brother LeRoy Meyer of Rocky Ford, CO.; and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and a host of friends.

            Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the Kit Carson Volunteer Fire and Ambulance Fund, either directly or through Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel of Lamar.
