Accident on Highway 287

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a Hyundai Elantra which resulted in property damage in Prowers County on July 19th.
The tractor-trailer and the Hyundai were southbound on Colorado 287. The Hyundai slowed down to make a left turn at Prowers County Road F. The tractor-trailer attempted to pass the Hyundai on the left and collided with rear of the vehicle. The Hyundai was forced off the east side of the roadway and came to final rest in the borrow ditch. The tractor-trailer came to a controlled stop on the west shoulder of Colorado 287.
The driver and passengers of the Hyundai were transported to the hospital for precautionary reasons. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured in the accident.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was cited with careless driving.
