A sunny and warm day helped with the large turnout for this past weekend’s 36th Annual Wiley Hay Days. Events began on Friday with a baseball game pitting one generation against another and eased into a sit down activity for Bingo in the park, sponsored by the Wiley Lions Club.

Saturday begin with a brisk morning walk and breakfast at the Rock School House, followed by preparations for the Kid’s Carnival, rides and the traditional ping-pong flyover. Folks had their fill of Sloppy Joes, as it seemed there was just enough to go around for anyone with an appetite and when the lunch concluded, people started lining the streets to watch the parade, or enter their float at the assembly point at the high school. This year’s king and queen was Jim and Charlene Hudson, longtime Wiley residents who were honored for their years of service to the Wiley community.

If you didn’t get enough sweets tossed from all the floats, people took advantage of the annual ice cream social at the Community Church, a chance to find some shade, rest your feet and visit with neighbors while enjoying a scoop or two of everyone’s favorite summertime treat.
