June 22 is Bike to Work Day, Bike Rodeo this Saturday

For a little morning exercise and an earlier start on the day for some, you’ll get a free breakfast and a tee-shirt this Wednesday, June 22 at the Lamar Community Building.

Bike to Work day is recognized this Wednesday by the Lamar Parks and Recreation Department and the Lamar Chamber of Commerce.  Chamber members will provide a full breakfast at the Lamar Community Building beginning at 7am.  Recreation department director, Rick du Lac said the annual, free breakfast will be served from 7am to 8am.  The menu includes sausage, bacon and eggs, pancakes, fruit and an assortment of beverages.  Always wear safety gear and spandex riding shorts is optional.

On a related note, the annual Bike Rodeo, sponsored by the Lamar Parks and Recreation Department will be held at the Lamar swimming pool parking lot beginning at 9am on Saturday, June 25th.  The event is free to all boys and girls 12 and under.  Kids will test their riding skills on several different courses and learn the safety rules of the road when riding their bikes.  All participants will be eligible for a new bicycle, donated by a local business.  For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation department at 336-2774.
