The apartment complex in the 800 block of South 13th Street in Lamar will be torn down. The complex general manager, Anthony LaTour said recently, the owner has decided to raze the four unit complex, plus the storage garage and make an assessment on rebuilding, based on insurance coverage which is still being evaluated.

The garage at the eastern end of the four apartments suffered the worst damage. Only two of the four apartments were rented, and those tenants have secured other lodgings. According to the fire department report, the combustible material that caused the blaze on June 6 is believed to be sawdust- like material that ignited between the garage and the end apartment. Those apartments on the western end of the complex suffered some smoke and water damage as all four units shared a common attic. The roof of the complex was cut open by the fire department to gain access to the blaze on the inside of the apartments.
