Relay for Life, Requesting Food Donations for June 4-5 Event

The 2011 Relay for Life Committee of Lamar is asking for donations of food and drink items to be sold in the concession stand during Relay. Candy, soda, water, hot dogs, nachos, burritos, anything would be great. All money raised from the sales will go towards the 2011 Relay for Life of Lamar. There is still time to sign up your team. Please come out and join us on Saturday June 4th, opening ceremonies will beginning at 6:00 pm at Merrill Brush Field at Savage Stadium. After the closing ceremony all survivors and their caregivers are invited to the Lamar Community Building for a dinner hosted by the Lamar Elk’s Lodge. Everyone is then invited back to the stadium for the Survivor Power point presentation. Bring your money we will have multiple on-site fundraisers going on during Relay as well as the Second Annual Mr. Relay of Lamar contest. Bring your change and donate to these men as they are dressed up in their best outfits. We are also hosting a Silent Auction during the Relay, we have some awesome items that people have donated to the Relay. All money raised from the Silent Auction will go towards Relay.

The Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 9:00 pm, this is always a very touching ceremony. New to the 2011 Relay for Life will be the Fight Back Ceremony which begins at midnight. Come listen to some great speakers tell their life story and how cancer affected them. Curves will be hosting a Zumba class at 1:30 am, in case you need a little waking up, those ladies will get your blood pumping. At 3:00 am will we have a cake walk in case you need a little sugar to get your through to the end of Relay. At 4:00 am we will have our first Minute it to Win-it contest to get the stadium laughing. Closing ceremonies will begin at 5:30 am with the Memory lap. We will be announcing this years contest winners as well as winners for the different chance drawings held for Relay by the teams. After the closing Ceremony the Eagles Lodge is making homemade breakfast burritos for everyone.
