New for You at Lamar Library

Beecher Quote Atop Library Magazine Rack

The New ADA Assist Computer at the Lamar Library

Two new items were recently added to the Lamar Library, courtesy of the Lamar Sorosis Society Club, as well as grants from the federal government and the Gates Foundation.

A newly purchased ADA computer workstation will enable access to the internet using a specially designed keyboard and guide wheel for library patrons, and a quote from Henry Ward Beecher highlights the wall framing the library’s newspaper and magazine racks.  Visitors are invited to stop by the new release shelves featuring fiction and non-fiction works, plus the DVD and talking book selections.

This past April, the library registered 7,989 material checkouts and 25,885 year to date.  The library recently acquired 12 new laptop computers to be used in a training facility, and once the software package has been installed, they’ll be ready for use.  The annual summer reading program is set to begin, running from June 6 to July 13, and registration is still available for kids age 3 years, to those who will enter the 5th grade next year.  The Teen Reading program is available for students entering the 6th through 8th grades.   Call the library at 336-4632 for information or go online at lamarlibrary.colibraries.org.
