Lamar Elks Honor Area Students of the Month

The Lamar Elks Lodge #1319, honors area students with a monthly dinner and awards program through the school year. This month’s selection includes:
Callie Bennett of Lamar Middle School, a March Student of the Month. Callie, daughter of Justin and Cindy Bennett, has been involved in track, volleyball, basketball and 4-H. She received the Eagle award in 2009-2010 and the Norris Nye Award at Lamar Middle School. She also received awards through 4-Hk. Callie’s favorite subject is English, and she plans to attend college after high school. She enjoys sports in her spare time and is actively involved in the Relay for Life. Family time is important to Callie, and dinnertime is when they all gather. Callie’s favorite quote is, “God grant me the serenity to accept the tings I can’t change, courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Lamar Middle School presents Cameron Batterton as a March Student of the Month. Cameron, son of Chris and Jackie Batterton has been involved in football, wrestling and track. Cameron’s favorite subject is Phsy. Ed., and his future plans include having a happy family, having a fancy house, and having a nice car. He enjoys shooting hoops and watching TV in his spare time. With his family, Cameron likes going to the park and watching movies together.
Andreya Martinson, a 7th grader at Lamar Middle School is an April Student of the Month. Andreya, daughter of Stephanie and Lloyd Martinson, is involved in volleyball, basketball, track, band and square dancing, as well as gymnastics. Her favorite subject is English and she plans to attend college to become an X-Ray technician. Andreya enjoys spending time with her friends, camping, fishing and traveling to the mountains and playing Wii. She also takes part in Relay for Life, and with her family, enjoys family dinners and going to the lake together. Andreya’s favorite saying is, “Winners never quit and quitters never win.”
Lamar Middle School presents Tim Ludwig, a 7th grader as an April Student of the Month. Tim, son of Greg and Christie Ludwig is involved in the school’s jazz band, cross-country, track, GT, Boy Scouts and swimming. His favorite subjects are math and science and he plans to attend college. Tim enjoys playing the piano, ping-pong, doing puzzles and legos and using his I-Pad. He volunteers in Boy Scouts, and with his family, enjoys playing games, camping and playing outdoors.
Lamar Sophomore Jessie Tecklenburg is the daughter of David and Luann Tecklenburg. She has two sisters. Jessie is involved in NoteAbles, FFA, NHS, her church youth group and cheerleading through which she earned two letters. Her current GPA is 3.76 and her favorite class is U.S. History. In her spare time, Jessie enjoys hanging out with her friends and playing tennis. Following high school, Jessie wants to become a veterinary assistant.
Dakota Jara is also an April Student of the Month at LHS. Dakota is the son of Saralynn and Chris Jara, and he has two brothers and two sisters. Dakota has participated in cross country, wrestling, track, 4-H and square dancing and he is a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church. Dakota has earned two letters in cross country, one in wrestling and two in track. He also earned the FFA Greenhand degree. In his spare time, Dakota enjoys ceramics, playing cards, swimming, riding horses, handing out with his family and debating with people. He has a GPA of 3.3 and his favorite classes are woods and Spanish, and he plans to attend college after high school.
