The weatherman is finally cooperating, forecasting better weather than in years past for Saturday’s Cinco de Mayo celebration, sponsored by Voces Unidas and the Lamar Chamber of Commerce. Saturday’s outlook calls for sunny skies with highs in the mid-80’s, perfect for enjoying a day at the North Side Park.
Booths, vendors, food, inflatables and games will be set up at the park from 10am to 3pm and musical entertainment will be provided by DJ Paul Navarette. Area dancers will perform from 12:30 to 2pm.
A new attraction this year, Cinco de Mayhem, caged arena fighting, will be held at the Lamar Community Building Saturday night. Doors open at 6:30pm and the fights begin at 7:30pm. Ticket prices start at $20 per seat. A portion of the funds will be used for scholarships for three area high school students.
