Traffic Stalled on Main (Again)

Last month a northbound oversized scoop/shovel got hung up on Main Street, just past Olive as the load was over-wide. Police had to ask those persons parked along Main Street to move their cars to make room for the vehicle.

This past Tuesday afternoon, Lamar police and fire departments responded to a semi, again at the intersection of Main and Olive who developed locked brakes which were Moments from catching fire.

Traffic was diverted for around 15 minutes while a fire crew sprayed the rear wheels, making sure a fire wouldn’t ignite. The aroma of scorched rubber filled the air while onlookers from shops on either side of Main Street paused to view the action. The semi was pulled far enough to the median to allow two-way traffic to resume progress through town.
