MEDIA RELEASE – SEXUAL ASSAULT

On Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at approximately 3:00 A.M. officers from the Lamar Police Department responded to the 600 block of North 13th Street on report of a sexual assault.

 Officers contacted the victim and witnesses on scene. The victim, an adult female, and witnesses both identified Sonny Gazotti as being the suspect in the incident. The victim was transported to a medical facility for an exam which confirmed sexual activity consistent with the alleged assault.

 Officers were able to contact Gazotti at his residence in the 1700 block of South 11th Street. Gazotti was taken into custody and later transported to the Prowers County Jail he was charged with sexual assault and unlawful use of a controlled substance and is being held on $16,000.00 bond.
