Lamar FFA Students Place at Regional Competition

Lamar FFA students competed in various Regional Competition events held at Lamar Community College two weeks ago.

The FFA Horse Judging Team placed three helter classes and one performance class; Reining. The Lamar team placed 2nd in the Southeast District and took 4th place in the overall regional contest. Remington Stocking earned top honors as High Individual in the S.E. District and 4th Overall High Individual in the Region.

The Lamar FFA Crop Judging Team placed in the Field Crop Career Development Event, consisting of weed, crop, pest and seed identification was well as testing over Pesticide Application and common crop production problems and/or practices encountered in the major crops of Colorado. Lamar placed 2nd in the S.E. District and 4th Overall in the region. Individual honors go to Paul Specht who placed 2nd Overall High Individual in the S.E. District.

The Lamar FFA Livestock Evaluation team took 2nd place at events held at the Sand and Sage Fairgrounds. Members are asked to place classes of livestock and give “Oral Reasons” for their choices. A written exam evaluated their knowledge of Animal Science and Livestock Production. Reed Marts took 2nd Overall High Individual in the S.E. District.
