Party of Gold Earns Donations for Voces Unidas in Lamar

Private sales of gold jewelry helped raise donations for Voces Unidas in Lamar this past Saturday, March 26. The concept is identical to the television ads in which people receive payment when their gold jewelry is mailed away for assessment. The transactions took place this Saturday at the Shore Arts Center, downtown Lamar. LaRoyce Riley, representing Party of Gold, conducted the test and weight assessments and handed out the checks for the fair market value of the gold that afternoon.

The assessments are a commercial venture conducted by LaRoyce Riley, but a donation for $360.56 from the proceeds was made to Voces Unidas to support their annual activities, including three, $500 scholarships that are awarded to area students. Voces Unidas is finalizing plans for the Cinco de Mayo celebration which will be held at the North Side Park again this year on May 7, including a new event, a caged fighting contest which will be held at the Lamar Community Building.
