Dr. John Abbott Joins High Plains Community Health Center Staff

Dr. John Abbott D.O., well known local physician, has joined the High Plains Community Health Center medical staff. Dr. Abbott has been a familiar face at the emergency room since 1994 and will now shift his skills to providing patient centered medical care for acute and chronic conditions with an emphasis on preventive medicine.

Dr. Abbott received his medical training at Kansas City College of Osteopathic Medicine followed by an internship at Phoenix General Hospital. He is involved in many local organizations including being Vice Chief of Staff at Prowers Medical Center, Medical Director for the Lamar Ambulance Service, a member of the Colorado Emergency Medical Practice Advisory Council, and Medical Director for Colorado Motocross.

Dr. Abbott says “I look forward to seeing friends and neighbors in my new medical practice. High Plains has a great staff. We focus on all of the interventions possible to keep people healthy and if they have a disease such as diabetes or high blood pressure, we help with medications, proper diet and exercise. I am building my practice and would like to be your doctor.”
