The Colorado State Patrol investigated a two-vehicle crash resulting in one minor injury and one life threating injury that occurred on Colorado 25, 10 miles north of Pueblo.
A 2002 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound on Colorado 25. A 2007 International, pulling a trailer, was traveling southbound on Colorado 25. The driver of the Chevrolet lost control of the vehicle and it went off the left side of the road and began to rotate clockwise. The Chevrolet continued traveling northbound across the center median and onto the southbound lanes of Colorado 25. The Chevrolet collided its left side with the left front of the International. After Impact, the Chevrolet traveled back southbound into the center median, coming to rest on its wheels facing west. The International continued southbound, went off the left side of the road, coming to rest on its wheels facing south.
The Chevrolet’s driver, 36-year-old John Quillen of Bristol, CO, was unrestrained at the time of the crash. He was transported to Parkview Medical Center, via ambulance, with life threatening injuries.
The International’s driver, 26-year-old Nicholas Summer of Alamosa, CO, was restrained at the time of the crash. He was transported to Parkview Medical Center and treated for minor injuries.
At this time, alcohol and drug use are not suspected, but exceeding a safe speed and inadequate tires are the contributing factors to the crash.
