Granada Man Dies in One Vehicle Accident (UPDATE)

UPDATE 

(On 08-29-14 at approximately 0321 hours, the driver of Vehicle #1 died as a result of his injuries sustained in the crash.)

The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a one vehicle accident that occurred on Prowers County Road 25 approximately 9 miles south of Granada.

The driver and only occupant of a 2006 Chevrolet Impala was seriously injured as a result of the accident. The driver, Christopher Pizarro, age 22, of Granada, Colorado, was northbound on Prowers County Road 25 when he failed to negotiate a right hand curve in the roadway.

The Impala went off the left side of the roadway and rolled one and one quarter times, ejecting the driver. The driver was transported to Prowers Medical Center in Lamar. 

Speed and alcohol are being investigated as factors in the accident, and seatbelts were not in use.
