Charges Pending in Death of Lamar Man

On 07/25/14 at approximately 11:30 pm the Lamar Police Department responded to the alleyway behind 100 N. Main Street on the report of an assault victim who was unconscious and unresponsive.  Officers located the victim, Rudy Ray Munez, age 48, of Lamar in the rear of 109 Hickory and called medical assistance to the scene.  Mr. Munez was transported to the Prowers Medical Center and later to Parkview Hospital in Pueblo for treatment of a severe head injury.

The Lamar Police Department initiated a criminal investigation into the assault of Mr. Munez.  A suspect, Mikel Logan Sisneros, age 21, of Lamar was identified and a search warrant was issued for the suspect’s residence at 201 S. Main St.  Sisneros was taken into custody without incident.  He was initially charged with 2nd degree assault and is being held at the Prowers County Jail on a $50,000 bond.

On 07/29/14 the Lamar Police Department received information that the victim, Rudy Munez, died as a result of his injuries.  The investigation is ongoing and anyone having information about the crime is encouraged to contact the Lamar Police Department.  The case is scheduled for August 6th, 2014 at 08:30am for a bond hearing and appearance of counsel.  Additional charges are anticipated, however, a charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is innocent until or unless proven guilty.
