Orozco Arrested, Goes Peacefully

On Tuesday, January 28, 2014, Officers from the Lamar Police Department received information on the location of Justin Orozco. Justin had two felony warrants in which one included an assault on a police officer. Officers were advised Justin Orozco was hiding out at 310 West Poplar Street.
Officers made contact with the homeowner and were advised Justin Orozco was in the residence. Officers contacted Justin Orozco in a bedroom and placed Justin into custody. Justin Orozco is held at Prowers County Jail $16,000 dollar bond and a $20,000 dollar cash only bond.
(Editor’s Note): Lamar Police had been searching for Orozco since the evening of January 8, 2014 following an assault on Officer P.J. Wilson at the Tank and Tummy Store on South Main Street. Wilson was treated for injuries at Prowers Medical Center during the assault as he attempted to apprehend Orozco. Multiple law enforcement agencies conducted a search for the suspect in the southwest corner of the town along several streets intersecting with Savage Avenue near the Lamar High School. Police Chief Gary McCrea said information received by the department led to his arrest. McCrea added that Orozco did not offer any resistance to the police when he was taken into custody.
