Two Seriously Injured in Two Truck Crash in Prowers County

The Colorado State Patrol is currently investigating an injury crash that occurred on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at approximately 3:05 PM on Hwy 50 approximately 3 miles west of Lamar.
A 2013 International semi tractor-trailer driven by 30 year old Jennifer Ruis of Florida was eastbound on Hwy 50 when it rear-ended a large tow truck towing a horse trailer full of horses driven by Andy Woller of Lamar. The tow truck was rear-ended as it attempted to make a right turn into Ark Valley Diesel.
The driver and a passenger from the semi were trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Lamar Fire Department and Prowers County Rural Fire Department.
Both the driver and the passenger of the semi sustained serious injuries and were flown the Swedish Hospital in Denver. The driver of the tow truck, Andrew Woller, was not injured.
Eastbound Hwy 50 was closed for approximately 3 hours as traffic was rerouted around the scene near County Road 6.
Alcohol or drugs are not considered a factor and charges are pending.
