The Prowers County Sheriff’s Office responded to 257 calls in December, 2012, with 131 in Lamar, 97 in Prowers County and 15 from Holly.
There were 45 jail related calls for Lamar and 16 warrant arrests were issued. Lamar calls also included one DUI and one Theft. Eleven traffic accidents were reported for Prowers County, there were seven calls for animal related events as thefts, plus two criminal mischief and vandalism calls. The sheriff’s department issued 26 warning tickets and nine traffic citations and summonses as well as one criminal summons. Three new cases were assigned for investigation in December and 11 cases were cleared. There were eight charges as a result of the investigations and 19 are still active.
Year to date bookings for 2012 were 1,351 and of the 96 for December, 79 were male and 17, female and five inmates were reported to ICE officials for the month. The number in inmates on average for December was 40. Security at the Prowers County Courthouse noted 5,226 persons were screened for a daily average of 275. Security made four warrant arrests on individuals who were seen at the Courthouse.
The cost of inmate meals in December was $10,151.67 and medical expenses came to $3,466.10. December expenses for the Sheriff’s Department were $187,578.25 and year to date was $2,089,772.70. Revenue for the month was $53,267.33 and year to date was $449,521.30.
