Saturday, June 8

At 10:37 am on Saturday, June 8, Lamar Fire personnel were dispatched to a CO detector activation at 1208 S. 8th Street in Lamar.  On arrival at the scene, CO was not found and after inspection it was determined that the CO alarm had malfunctioned and needed to be replaced.  The home owner had no complaints of headache or nausea and stated he would get a new detector as soon as possible.  Atmos Energy was requested to perform a backup reading to verify all was clear.

Sunday, June 9

At 12:29 am on Sunday, June 9, Lamar Fire personnel were dispatched to a CO detector activation at 1607 S. 11th Street in Lamar.  On arrival, fire personnel found the family standing outside their apartment and they noted that the CO alarm made an unusual noise unlike what sounds when the battery is dead.  Through investigation, fire personnel found the alarm to be faulty.  Atmos Energy was dispatched to the scene to perform a backup reading and the family was notified that they needed to replace the unit.

Monday, June 10

At 6:36 pm on Monday, June 10, Lamar Fire personnel were dispatched to a good intent call at 1703 S. 12th Street in Lamar.  The call was to notify the Fire Department that the inner wall of the building was very hot to the touch.  On arrival, fire personnel found that a small section of the interior wall was warm.  Maintenance was there to check the source and it was found that the chase for the furnace and water heater flue was in the same area.  Maintenance noted they would check the wall later to see if the temperature had changed and may open the wall to check for problems if it did not.  Tenant was informed to call 911 if the heat continued.

At 8:39 pm on Monday, June 10, Lamar Fire personnel were dispatched to a smoke scare at 8825 E. Highway 50 in Lamar due to smoke showing out the top of a grain elevator.  The fire call was made in Rural Jurisdiction.  Upon arrival at the scene, fire personnel found nothing showing.  Upon investigation, a worker of the CO-OP arrived on the scene to say he had just loaded a grain truck and that it was grain dust that had been coming out the top of the elevator.

At 8:09 pm on Monday, June 10, Lamar Fire personnel were dispatched to an electrical wiring/equipment problem at 503 E. Division Street in Lamar.  On arrival at the scene, nothing was showing.  When fire personnel contacted the occupant, she stated that something smelled hot.  The thermal imager and PID were taken in to investigate.  A hot spot was located in the wall in the furnace compartment.  The wall was removed in that area and there were four to five electrical wires found in this area.  One seemed to be warm to the touch.  Lamar Light and was called and found one of the wires had fused together.  The wire was cut and capped with the breaker to that circuit shut off.  The occupant was told to get a hold of an electrician to repair the problem and check the rest of the trailer.
