Wednesday, April 17
At 1:50 am on Wednesday, April 17, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched to MM58 US Hwy 287 to a vehicle accident with injuries for a single semi rollover. Upon arrival the ambulance crew notified fire personnel that the driver was trapped inside the vehicle and extrication was needed. The crew then stabilized the semi with a winch, after which they were able to cut through the top of the roof to access the driver. Lamar and Rural Fire personnel held the backboard and assisted the ambulance crew with the loading the semi driver.
Thursday, April 18
At 6:21 am on Thursday, April 18, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched to the corner of US Hwy 50 and County Road 7 in Lamar for a two vehicle accident with injuries. Upon arrival at the scene, fire personnel found that both parties were out of their vehicles and were able to move on their own. The parties had minor injuries and one was taken to PMC. The site of the accident was then cleared.
At 8:52 am on Thursday, April 18, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched to the junction of US Hwy 50 and County Road 17 on report of a one vehicle accident with injuries. Fire personnel were called to a one vehicle roll over but upon arrival no extrication was necessary. Fire personnel helped ambulance crew to move patients from the car to the ambulance.
At 10:35 pm on Thursday, April 18, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched for a vehicle accident but the call was cancelled en route.
Saturday, April 20
At 12:37 pm on Saturday, April 20, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched to a vehicle accident for general cleanup. The incident occurred on Main Street and Maple Street in Lamar. Upon arrival at the scene, fire personnel found a one vehicle accident and a light pole on the ground. The vehicle involved, a Toyota Tundra, was hauling a trailer and sustained heave front end damage. No injuries were reported. Fire personnel helped with fluid containment and general clean up.
Sunday, April 21
At 3:40 pm on Sunday, April 21, the Lamar Fire Department was dispatched to 410 North 5th Street in Lamar on report of an outside trash fire. Fire personnel were delayed in responding due to a mix up between North and South street addresses, and before reaching the scene they were notified that the fire was out. The unit, along with Fire Chief and Police were requested to continue to the scene to further investigate and make sure the fire was out. Upon arrival, they found that a wooden fence had been badly burnt on the north and east facing sides. Trash piled along the fence including a screen door, baby stroller and child’s bike were badly charred and plastic parts were melted. A roll of toilet paper was found next to the stroller and the gas detector spiked alerting fire personnel of a flammable liquid. Personnel also found multiple match sticks, a birthday candle and Gatorade bottle with a burnt match inside. The Police Department took pictures and samples of the dirt which read high for flammable liquids and the roll of toilet paper.
