As many as six Prowers County residents will be voted on for three board seats, Wednesday night, February 27, during the annual Prowers County Development Incorporated meeting. There are three positions coming open and two members, Shawna Hodge and Lawrence Brase are running for re-election. Board President Cathy Buxton said during the Tuesday morning meeting that she will not run for another term.
The other candidates to be voted on are: Diane Pool, Larry Lusher, Rick Robbins and Larry Lucius. Each candidate will have two minutes to address the membership voters during the annual banquet and meeting at the RodeWay Cow Palace Inn, beginning at 6pm with a meet and greet. Anyone wishing last minute tickets should contact the PCDI office at 719-336-2384. PCDI Executive Director, Lisa Nolder, will also address the audience.
Members approved the annual membership dues to the Lamar Chamber of Commerce, and after some discussion, voted to renew a lapsed membership of several years with the Ports to Plains organization for $250 a year. The membership was allowed to expire in a budgetary belt-tightening move. Membership fees of $250 to the Economic Development Council of Colorado were also renewed.
The PCDI board went into executive session for negotiations in regard to business development. The next board meeting will be held at 7:30 am on Tuesday, March 26.
