Winter Driving Resources – CDOT
VPG | Jan 08, 2013 | Comments 0
Our Colorado winter has entered another dry spell, with hope of a few flurries this Friday on the Western Slope and in the higher elevations, and maybe Saturday in Denver and along the Front Range. This week might be a good time to gather some information for your next round of winter weather reporting. Let us help you.
During each storm event—big or small—we see an increase in visits to our website, Facebook page and 511 road information phone line. We figured you experience the same thing, so we wanted to remind you—our partners in safe winter driving messaging—of our online resources that can help get those messages out to your reading, listening and viewing audiences.
Winter Reporting Resources: On our Winter Driving web page at http://www.coloradodot.info/travel/winter-driving, we have a variety of resources to help you tell your winter travel stories, including roadway devices (cameras and message boards), daily and seasonal closures, winter driving tips and public service announcements (PSAs). You can also follow us on Twitter, @coloradodot.
Winter Public Service Announcements: We encourage you to use our online PSAs, available at http://www.coloradodot.info/travel/winter-driving/pubs-psa.html. We are always happy to provide interviews and information to supplement these messages. For your use, CDOT offers eight winter driving publications (including two for commercial vehicles), three radio PSAs and 16 television PSAs.
Get signed up to receive road/weather information today: You’ll find updated travel alerts on our website throughout the winter. The best way to stay on top of our ever-changing winter weather conditions and road impacts is to sign up to receive wireless text and/or e-mail messages. Go to www.coloradodot.info or to our traveler information web site at www.cotrip.org and choose the green phone icon in the upper right corner or the blue phone icon at the bottom of the page, respectively.
Use our new mobile app: CDOT has a new, free mobile application for travelers called CDOT Mobile. Information regarding the I-70 corridor is now available and the I-25 corridor is coming soon. To download CDOT Mobile, simply text “CDOT” to 25827 or search CDOT Mobile in your App Store – and please tell your audiences!
Thank you; we look forward to working with you this winter,
The CDOT Public Relations Team
