Southeastern Colorado Road Conditions
VPG | Dec 19, 2011 | Comments 0
The Colorado Department of Transportation now is on snow shift through southeastern Colorado – areas including Lamar, Springfield, La Junta and Trinidad. Maintenance crews are currently working 12-hour shifts during the storm and will remain on snow shift after the storm passes for storm cleanup.
Winter driving conditions are prevalent on Interstate 25 south of Pueblo, including the chain law for commercial trucks south from Trinidad and over Raton Pass. Other state highways also are reported as snowy and icy. Windy conditions are making driving difficult due to blowing snow.
Conditions are expected to get worse as the day proceeds, with additional snow expected overnight into Tuesday. A total of 10 to 20 inches of snow currently is forecast, especially in the Springfield/Lamar area.
Several accidents are being reported throughout southeastern Colorado so drivers are asked to please slow down and use caution as they travel that part of the state today.
Drivers can access current information on road and weather conditions by viewing the www.cotrip.org Web site or by calling 511.
