Meeting to Detail Upcoming Highway 287 Improvements
LAMAR – The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is hosting an open house next month regarding the U.S. 287 (Main Street) Reconstruction Project through Lamar. Work is scheduled to begin this spring.
It will be held on Monday, Feb. 8, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the Lamar Library Cultural Events Center, 104 West Parmenter Street. Project team members will be available to answer questions about the reconstruction. Informational boards will provide additional information about the project.
“This is a good opportunity for businesses and residents to see what’s planned and what to expect during construction,” said CDOT Resident Engineer Brian Long. “It’s a large project so we want to give people a chance to ask us questions and it gives us a chance to hear how we can possibly minimize impacts. Even though we’ve done lots of planning, there might be some potential issues we need to discuss further.”
The reconstruction includes:
- Concrete reconstruction of roadway
- Relocating street lighting
- Removal of the center median
- New stoplight at intersection of Main and Olive streets
- Three new pedestrian crossing signals, including one at the middle school
- New ADA ramps
- New storm sewer
- New fiber optic lines
Construction is expected to be completed in fall 2017.
