Summer Sales Tax Continues Gains

City of Lamar Sales Tax collected in June was up 14.21% for a $35,497 increase over last year and Total Sales and Use Tax Collections was up 9.71% for a $26,688 gain during same period.
Year to date collections show an increase of 8.63% for the period between January and July of this year for total collections of $1,898,782, compared to last year’s collections of $1,747,982. That marks a gain of $150,799 for that period. Year to date for all collections indicates sales tax receipts have gained 7.29% with collections for 2015 at $2,059,584 compared to 2014 of $1,919,560 for an increase of $140,023.
The twelve retail trades categories show a sales tax increase in almost all areas for a year to date measurement, comparing 2014 to the current collections. Motel tax revenue posted a decline.
