A combination of great weather, free music, food and entertainment for the family are the prime ingredients for two days of fun this past weekend for the 13th Annual Holly Bluegrass Festival.
The town of Holly rolls out the red carpet each second weekend in June to host the only free bluegrass music festival in Colorado. As always, Friday night is open to area or visiting musicians to come out and jam in Gateway Park and enjoy some dinner and hospitality, starting at 6pm.
The festival starts at 11am on Saturday and this year, five bands were lined up for entertainment in the park. The featured acts were: Bonham Revue, Dr. Harlan’s Amazing Bluegrass Tonic, Out of Nowhere, Parlor Pickers, and Wielands of Mass Destruction (WMD) made up this year’s roster. The park was lined with food vendors from Holly High School offering menus from burritos to bbq pork, burgers and sandwiches or a full plate lunch. The Holly Pool also offered free swimming through the afternoon.
Sunday entertainment started at 10:30am with the Legacy Quartet and a community church service at the park, followed by a noon meal.
