Turnaround Noted in Lamar City Sales Tax Revenue

Tax Revenues collected by the City of Lamar for this past March have shown an overall increase. City sales tax is up 9.52% for a $26,935 gain over the same time last year. Use Tax and Other Tax collections, while traditionally smaller, noted a drop of about $14,000 combined, over the same period. Totaled, the increase is at 4.03% for a gain of $12,701. Collections for March 2015 are $328,119 compared to last year at $315,417.
Year to Date collections follow a similar trend with City Sales Tax at 6.68 for the year, a gain of $69,472 for a total of $1,109,331 for this year, compared to 2014 at $1,039,859. Combined collections, YTD, are at 4.75%. That’s $54,803 more than the same time last year. Year to Date totals are $1,207,526 for 2015 and $1,152,723 for 2014.
Gains were also noted in some areas of the retail category breakdown, comparing 2015 to 2014.
