Highway 287 Closed Next Week for Railroad Repairs

BACA COUNTY – U.S. 287 will be closed just north of the town of Campo on Monday, Oct. 20, for railroad crossing work.
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is closing a 3.1-mile segment of the highway to allow the BNSF Railroad to resurface its crossing to better match the roadway surface and, in turn, provide a smoother ride for vehicles crossing the tracks.
Beginning at 8 a.m., all traffic will detour around the closure via Baca County roads J, 26, and M. The highway closure and detour will remain in place until mid-afternoon Monday.
Traffic information about this or other CDOT projects is on the cotrip.org website, by calling 511 or via subscription e-mail.
