Fall Semester Starts Soon at Lamar Community College

LCC Lopes

Lamar Community College will quickly begin another fall semester. While most courses begin the week of August 19th, LCC full-time faculty and students will prepare for courses the week of August 12th. Todd-Burch Residence Hall will open on Thursday, August 15th at noon, and orientation will be held on Friday, August 16th. LCC’s Student Services Center, Campus Bookstore, and Learning Support Services will hold extended hours on Saturday, August 17th from 9 am-12 pm for registration, advising, purchasing course materials, and testing.

The College has a variety of cutting edge programs to offer students, including Renewable Energy Technologies, Welding, and Cosmetology. Renewable Energy Technologies is an A.A.S. for students who want to work with photovoltaic systems, wind turbines, solar thermal systems, and/or biofuel equipment. The Welding certificate is a year-long program for students who wish to take advantage of a prosperous career within the field. Students who complete their welding certificate can continue their education by receiving an A.A.S in Construction Trades. The Cosmetology A.A.S. degree prepares students to be their own boss and enjoy the flexibility of owning their own business.

There is still time to apply for admission, register for courses, and request financial aid before classes begin. Contact Student Services as soon as possible to begin the admission process. Students can also start online at www.lamarcc.edu.

The college highly recommends that students attend Orientation activities including academic advising, workshops, student activities, and fitness center orientations. Parents and family members are welcome to attend orientation on Friday, August 16th to better understand their roles. Students may register for orientation at www.lamarcc.edu as well.
