Tuesday, July 16

At 10:05 pm on Tuesday, July 16, fire personnel were dispatched to 1000 Hemmingway Street in Lamar on report of a fire alarm.  On arrival at the scene, it was found that the occupant was cooking sugar for suckers and the ingredients got too hot.  The pan on the stove was charred and bent over on the sides.  The alarm company reset the alarm after speaking to a fire department representative letting them know that all was clear with no smoke or fire present.

Wednesday, July 17

At 11:49 am on Wednesday, July 17, fire personnel were dispatched to a fire alarm sounding at 1111 South 4th Street in Lamar.  Upon arrival at the scene, it was found to be a false alarm.  Fire personnel were notified that it was a false alarm and that the alarm had been reset.  The occupant advised that they were contacting the alarm maintenance company to have the problem repaired.

At 4:27 pm on Wednesday, July 17, fire personnel were dispatched to 105 North 7th Street in Lamar on report of a gas leak due to a gas meter being struck by a car.  Upon arrival, the gas meter was found destroyed.  An adjustable wrench was used to shut off the gas, and the scene was left to Lamar PD for investigation.  The owner and occupant of the address was not home.
