PLEASE HELP EMERGENCY REPONSE UNITS FIND YOUR HOUSE
Police Chief Gary McCrea and Fire Chief Marshall Cook are teaming up to ask local residents to display house numbers conspicuously on their homes. Police Officers, Fire Fighters and Ambulance Personnel are often called upon to respond to emergency situations in our community. Sometimes, they have difficulty in locating some of the addresses they are sent to, because the house numbers are not displayed on the home. The added time it takes to locate a particular address could make a huge difference in an emergency situation.
The City of Lamar adopted the International Building Codes in 2007. One of the requirements of the building code is the display of addresses on all building. All new construction is required to comply with the posting of address, but many of the older homes in the community are not posted.
For your own safety you should make sure your address is conspicuously posted on your home. It might make the difference between life and death in case of an emergency.
