Governor Hickenlooper Appoints Vigil to Bent County Court

DENVER — Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013 — Gov. John Hickenlooper has appointed Samuel S. Vigil to serve as a part-time judge for the Bent County Court in the 16th Judicial District. The judgeship is a 20 percent position. Vigil will fill a vacancy created by the Hon. Mark A. MacDonnell’s appointment to the district court.
Vigil currently works in private practice in Las Animas. Prior to his current position, he worked as the Deputy District Attorney for the 16th Judicial District and had practiced law at Hudson Legal. In both positions, he practiced criminal law.
Vigil earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of New Mexico and a J.D. from Tulane University Law School. The appointment is effective immediately.
