Results from Last Spring Clean Up Day

Saturday, April 21, is Spring Clean Up Day in Lamar.  The annual event starts at 7am and the last pile of trash/debris is scheduled to be picked up by 4pm.  All area residents are asked to place their junked items on their front curb no later than 7am.  Items should not be placed out overnight and items should be separated by content and liquid disposables should be labeled. 

Items okay for disposal include:  latex and oil based paint; tires, treated wood; used oil filters (free of oil); white goods such as freezers or computers; tree limbs and yard waste (bag your leaves). 

Items NOT accepted are:  junk vehicles, burn barrels, demolition debris/asbestos. 

Items that need to go to the Fire Department are:  lead acid batteries, fluorescent bulbs, household pesticides, poisons (only household hazardous waste, cleaners, solvents, rodent control) and liquids that are labeled correctly. 

Volunteers and city employees should meet at 6:30am at the Public Works Department at 103 North 2nd Street and remember your work gloves.  An appreciation lunch will be served at Willow Creek Park at Noon.  More information is available at the Public Works Department at 336-2002.
