Wednesday Deadline for Ward II Replacement

Qualified candidates for the Lamar City Council seat being vacated by PJ Wilson have until this Wednesday, March 7 to submit their application.  The forms must be turned in by 1pm on that day.  The council has until April 9, thirty days after the vacancy occurs, to fill the position for councilman for Ward ll.  Applicants will be interviewed by the city council during the work session preceding its regular meeting on Monday, March 26. 

A candidate must be registered to vote, a U.S. Citizen for at least one year, have resided in the City of Lamar for at least the past year, not have a felony conviction nor hold any other elected public office and not be a salaried employee of the City of Lamar.  The candidate must reside within the Ward II boundaries, falling between Eighth Street and Main Street, including the area north of Olive Street and east of Main Street, the area north of Washington Street and West of Eight Street and the area east of Main street which is bounded by Parkway Drive on the north, Parkview Avenue on the east and the Fort Bent Canal on the south.   

The selected candidate will fill out the unexpired portion of Councilman Wilson’s term.  Wilson is now residing out side the Ward II area and announced his resignation from the council several weeks ago.
