Brief City Council Meeting Set

Few items are before the Lamar City Council for their first meeting of the new year, this evening, January 9. There is no work session scheduled, and the regular meeting will begin at 7pm in council chambers.
The Sales and Use Tax Report will be presented to the council by the City Clerk. A public hearing date of January 23 will be recommended for a Special Events Permit requested by the Lamar Chamber of Commerce which plans a wine tasting event at the Cow Palace Inn on March 23. On a similar note, the Cow Palace Inn had submitted a partial liquor license on September 20, 2011, which did not include a complete map of the premises. An updated presentation was made on December 27, 2011 and the council will take action on the new submission.
In other action, the council will consider updating an agreement for ACH transfers for employee payroll. The current agreement, signed in 1995, needs to update information and signatures. The council will also approve those areas of the City of Lamar at which places of notice of public meetings will be posted. There are some 21 areas, including media outlets, schools and college, county offices and other municipal and social buildings.
