Thomas Robert Montez…March 8, 1966 – October 7, 2015

Mass of Christian Burial for Thomas Robert Montez will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado Father Raymond Grimes will officiate. A Rosary/Scripture service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Interment will follow the Mass service at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery in Las Animas, Colorado.

Thomas, affectionately known to most as “Tommy”, was born on March 08, 1966 in Lamar, Colorado to Ramon E. and Martha T. (Palomino) Montez and passed away on October 7, 2015 in Pueblo, Colorado at the age of 49.

Tommy was the oldest of four children, a terrific brother and loving son. He would frequently drop by his parents’ house to check on them. A very hard worker, Tommy had been employed by the Las Animas School District, Thaxton’s Grocery Store, the local Post Office, and held many other odd jobs throughout the community. Tommy enjoyed playing pool, loved listening to music and dancing, and looked forward to the time that he was able to spend playing with his nieces and nephews. Everyone knew and loved Tommy, and he will be greatly missed.

Tommy is survived by his parents, Ramon and Martha Montez of Las Animas, Colorado; sister, Ernestine Pasillas of Las Animas, Colorado; and brother, Joseph B. Montez of Las Animas, Colorado.

Tommy was preceded in death by his grandparents; infant brother; sister, Mary Sauceda; uncles, Lawrence Palomino, Manuel Palomino, Faustino Montez, Tommy Jaramillo; and brother-in-law, Martin Passillas.
