Patriotic House Decorations on Display for 9/11 Tribute

The Lamar Chamber of Commerce identified the three winning households in Lamar who decorated for the 3rd Annual 9/11 Tri-State Tribute, held this past Saturday, September 12.
This is the second year the Tribute parade route has not followed the traditional path along Main Street, south to the Prowers County Fairgrounds. Because of concerns the parade would be so lengthy, it would hold up traffic along Highway 287 for over an hour, the parade organizers made the decision to follow South 6th Street to West Cedar Street and connect the final leg of the parade to South 9th Street directly into the fairgrounds. CDOT, Colorado Department of Transportation, is responsible for Highway 287 through Lamar and will not close that road for over an hour other than for an emergency.
This year, as in the previous year, some homeowners decorated their residences in a patriotic theme to honor those groups taking part in the parade. The Lamar Chamber of Commerce announced the three winners. 804 South 6th was selected for the ‘heart clenching’ to the fallen first response firefighters; 709 South 6th Street and 1405 South 9th Street also showed wonderful displays of patriotism.
The Lamar Chamber of Commerce thanks these and all the other homes along the route and in town for their displays for the memorable day honoring first responders and members of the Armed Forces. The top prize went to the house at 804 South 6th Street and will be given $100 in Luv Bucks, donated by the Tri-State 9/11 Tribute Foundation.
