Linda L. Bentley of Merkel, TX passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015 in her home with her family by her side. Linda was born in Great Bend, KS, on August 25, 1945 to Robert “Babe” Smith and Norma (Rogers) Smith. She grew up on the family farm near McClave, CO, and graduated from McClave High School in 1963. Linda was a member of the McClave Methodist Church.
Linda married Robert Bentley in Pampa, TX in August 1971. They resided in Pampa for several years and returned to the McClave area in 1975. The family then moved to the Merkel area in August 1982 and remained there until her passing.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, Babe Smith, and mother, Norma Smith along with her great-grandson, Ryan James Kuebler. Those remaining to cherish her memories are her husband, Robert of the family home; daughters, Melinda Bentley of Forgan, OK, Lisa (Danny) White of Forgan, OK, and Dayna (Dirk) Davis of Pritchett, CO; grandchildren, Cassy, Michael, Lane, Sheena, Tristin, Kelton, and Kolten; and great-grandchildren, Acacia, Alissa, Kenyon, and Talon. Linda also leaves behind her brother, Gary (Ricki) Smith of Rye, CO; sister, Sandi Reagan of Yukon, OK; and brother, Rob (Kara) Smith of Copeland, KS, as well as many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Visitation will be held Thursday, July 23, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO. A graveside service will follow at11:30 a.m. at the McClave Cemetery in McClave, CO.
