Mass of Christian burial for Frances Duran will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Las Animas, Colorado with Father Raymond Grimes officiating. Interment will take place in the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery. A rosary/scripture service will be held at 9:30 a.m. also at the church. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. on Monday, July 27, 2015 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas.

Frances Duran was born on January 14, 1921 in Las Animas, Colorado to Agapito and Librada (Perez) Villa. She passed away with her family by her side on July 22, 2015 in Las Animas, Colorado at the age of 94.

Frances married the late Domingo Duran and to this union were nine children who joined Frances’ six step children. Frances was a homemaker all of her life and took great pride in it. She loved to sew and cook. She taught her children and grandchildren how to cook and make tortillas.

Frances is survived by her children, Virginia Carberry, Ruthann (Gary) Lewis, Herrietta (Bill) Medina, Charlie (Deloris) Duran, Theresa Swisher, Trinidad (Oliver) De La Garza, Domingo (Patty) Duran, and Cecilia (David) Jaramillo; 21 grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; and 18 great great grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Domingo Duran; sons, John Perez and Dennis Duran; sister, Rosa Delatorre; brother, Paul Villa; granddaughter, Michelle Shoemaker; great grandson, Josiah Martinez; and step children, Josie Gonzales, Lupe Palacio, Joe Duran, Janie Martinez, Mary Garcia, and Vickie Rodriquez.
