William “Bill” Crum…July 5, 1927 – June 14, 2015

Funeral services for Holly Colorado resident, William Junior Crum, affectionately known as Bill, will be held at 4pm Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Valley Memorial Chapel in Holly, Colorado with Bishop David Anderson officiating.  Visitation for Bill will be held from 2:00 pm until time of service.

Bill was born on July 5, 1927 to William D. and Helen Jewel (Blackwell) Crum in Las Animas, CO.   He passed away on June 14, 2015 at the age of 87 in his home surrounded by loving family.

He was the oldest of three sons.  Bill, Vernon, and Bruce were raised on the family homestead North of Holly. Bill would often speak of the hard times during the thirties.  He would tell about losing their cattle, horses, and watching the last chicken roll away in a dust storm.  Although times were tough, Bill always knew how to have fun.

In 1946 he married Juanita Belle Swank.  To this union there were six children with four surviving; Richard, Patricia, William (Bob), and Valerie. Bill loved to farm but moved his family to California in hopes of making a better life, but it wasn’t long and they were calling Holly home again.  Bill was a very hardworking man and loved farming.

Bill is survived by two brothers, Vernon Crum and wife, Zola of Hartman Colorado and Norman Bruce Crum and wife, Roberta of Hutchinson, Kansas. He is also survived by his children, Richard Crum and wife, Judy of Colorado Springs, Patricia Mayhill of Colorado Springs, Bob Crum of Holly, and Valerie Crum of Hartman, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William D. Crum and Helen J. Crum, ex-wife, Juanita B. Crum, and two infant children, David and Cynthia.
