A celebration of life for longtime Lamar resident, Melva W. Mason will be held at 2:00PM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Reverend Jeff Alexander of the Lamar Calvary Baptist Church and Steve Knobbe co-officiating. Interment will follow in the Holly Cemetery.
Melva was born on December 1, 1918 at Weeping Water, Nebraska to William and Martha L. (Russell) Mason and passed away on April 10, 2015 at Prowers Medical Center at the age of 96.
He is preceded in death by his wife; Anna C. Mason, his parents, son; Bobby Gene Mason, two grandchildren; Cheri C. Hays and Troy A. Bentley and siblings; Alvin Mason, Billy Mason and Elizabeth Jo Shimek.
Melva is survived by his sons; Richard (Rita) Mason of Coweta, OK, Gary (Michelle) Mason of Lamar and David (Susan) Mason of Pueblo West, CO, daughters; Juanita Hays of Lamar, Barbara (Pete) Gatlin of Meridian, OK and Esta (John) Bentley of Lebanon, TN. He is also survived by his 23 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 34 great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Legacy at Lamar either direct or in care of the funeral home office.
Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
