A graveside service for lifelong Lamar resident, Jerry Hixson will be held at 3:00PM on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Fairmount cemetery.
Per Jerry’s request cremation will take place and there will be no visitation.
Jerry was born on November 4, 1936 at Lamar, Colorado to George William and Martha Genevieve (Lester) Hixson and departed this earth on March 31, 2015 at the age of 78, after a brief stay at Parkview Medical Center in Pueblo, Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings; Luther, Ralph and Hazel, who died in infancy and Walter Hixson, Dorothy Maynard, John Hixson, Howard Hixson, Woodrow Hixson, Elizabeth Bean and Larry Hixson; as well as his domestic partner; Michelle Kelly of his family home.
Jerry is survived by his step-son and step-daughter, Noah Kelly-Hernandez and Sarina Kelly-Hernandez, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and beloved friends. He is fondly remembered for his compassion and care of his friends and family.
Jerry Hixson was known as a “master mechanic”, operating C&J Auto Repair with business partner Carl Martinson. Many years later he established a recycling business, making weekly trips to Denver to deliver crushed aluminum cans, as well as the sole proprietor of Jerry’s 2nd Hand Trading Center.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Jerry Hixson Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home office.
