Graveside services for Jack A. Carpenter will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at the Bent/Las Animas Cemetery Elder Chapel. Pastor Don Rehling will officiate. Per Jack’s request there will be no visitation.
Jack Alvin Carpenter was born on March 26, 1933 in Las Animas, Colorado to Ulmont and Mary Ellen (Clifford) Carpenter. He passed away on April 14, 2015 in Trinidad, Colorado at the age of 82.
Jack served in United States Marine Corp from February of 1951 to February of 1954 when he was honorably discharged. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and United Nations Service Medal. Jack was a lifelong truck driver with his dad and brother, Aldric “Bud” Carpenter. He was a member of the VFW and had held several offices with the Las Animas Jaycees.
Jack is survived by his wife, Elsie (Springer) Carpenter; children; Wanda Carpenter, Daniel Carpenter; Marlene Pittman; grandsons, Clay Harvey and Cody Chalmers; great grandson, Braxton Harvey; stepdaughter, Becky Ramos; step grandchildren, Veronica and Jesse; step great grandchildren; sister, Sondra Kay Tracy; numerous nieces and nephews and their families; many other relatives and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Aldric “Bud” Carpenter; sisters, Beatrice “Fern” Miller, Helen Weaver, and Alberta “Sally” Hogue.
