(UPDATED) Mayree Dougherty…March 31, 1903 – March 9, 2015

Funeral services for longtime Lamar, CO resident, Mayree Dougherty will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 16, 2015 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, CO with Rev. Ian Blacker officiating.  Interment will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Lamar.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel.

Dolly Alice Mayree (Reed) Dougherty was born on March 31, 1903 in Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Fred and Clemmenza (Underwood) Reed.  She passed away on March 9, 2015 at Lamar Estates in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 111.

Dolly Alice Mayree Dougherty, known to her friends and family as Mayree, grew up during the great depression and lived through the dust bowl and two World Wars.  Throughout her life, Mayree took in and cared for several children upon becoming licensed by a local doctor as a child care taker. She served as a midwife, housekeeper, and nanny along with owning and operating a local motel.

Mayree was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; twelve brothers and sisters; and her daughter, Mildred Comer.

Mayree is survived by her sons, David and wife, Jennifer Dougherty of Lamar, Colorado, and Joe and wife, Linda Dougherty of Bossier City, Louisiana; and grandchildren, David Dougherty and wife, Lisa, Marylyn Eddleman and husband, Rick, Kimmie Dougherty, Vicki Comer, Justin Dougherty and wife, Atlanta, Jason Dougherty,  Brad Kincade, Bryan Kincade and wife, Amber, and Joe Schueller. She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, other family, and a host of friends.
