Charles Edward McPherson, III…September 8, 1936 – February 22, 2015

obit 14Charles Edward McPherson, III was born September 8, 1936 in a dugout near Goodland KS and died February 22 at his home in Rocky Ford.  He moved to the Lamar area when he was six months old, where he spent the next 18 years.  His elementary school years were spent in country schools around Lamar. He graduated from Lamar Union High School in 1954 and Lamar Jr. College in 1957. The next few years were spent in the Navy where he went through flight training and was privileged to fly the F-1 Jet. He then graduated from the University of Northern Colorado, taught one year each in McClave and Canon City before moving to Burlington where he taught 27 years, mostly in what he called the “Easy subjects”, high school math and physics.

In 1960 he married Jean McPherson of Cheraw, who survives and is also survived by his daughter, Sharon Marie and son, Charles Edward IV plus six grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles E. McPherson, Jr. and mother Donna Moon McPherson.

Other activities and interests of Charles III were performing magic, inventing tricks which he sold to other magicians, computer programming, wrestling coach, artist, vocalist, airplane pilot and pool player.

Celebration of Life Service will be at the Rocky Ford United Methodist Church, Saturday, March 14 at 1:00 p.m.
