Melrose Mooney…June 2, 1931 – December 31, 2014

A Celebration of Life for longtime Lamar resident, Melrose Mooney will be held at 10:00AM on Monday, January 5, 2015 at the Peacock Family Chapel with Bobby Mooney officiating. Interment will follow at the Fairmount Cemetery.

Melrose was born on June 2, 1931 at Commerce, Texas to Upton and Bertha (Moore) Wright and passed away on December 31, 2014 at her home in Lamar at the age of 83.

She is preceded in death by her husband; Everett, son; Dennis, her parents, brothers; Lloyd and Robert and her sister; Jewell.

Melrose is survived by her two sons; Bobby (Andrea) Mooney of Monument, CO, and Michael (Cheryl) Mooney of Katy, TX, six grandchildren; Lisa (Brandon) Simmelink, Rachael Mooney, Marianne Mooney, Jason (Eva) Mooney, Brian (Krystal) Schall and Valerie (Nathan) Silvis and numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister; Margaret Reed of Sante Fe, New Mexico as well as many dear friends.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Lamar Area Hospice either direct or in care of the funeral home office.

Services are under the direction of the Peacock Family.
