Jerry Bryant…June 9, 1928 – October 7, 2014

Memorial services for Jerry Bryant will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 11, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Las Animas, Colorado.  His long-time friend, Dale Leighty, will officiate.  Inurnment will immediately follow the services at the Bent County/Las Animas Cemetery.

C P Bryant, Jr., affectionately known as Jerry, was born June 9, 1928 in Las Animas, Colorado to C P Bryant and Charlotte (Morley) Bryant.  He passed away on October 7, 2014 in Las Animas at the age of 86.

With the exception of time in business school and in the Army in Korea, Jerry lived his entire life in Bent County.  He loved Las Animas, and always found ways to give back to his community.  Over the years, he belonged to many organizations and served on several boards, including the Arkansas River Conservancy District, the Arkansas River Power Authority (ARPA), Kiwanis Club and Lions Club.  He was a lifetime member of the First Baptist Church and was a member of King Solomon Masonic Lodge #30. During Jerry’s later years, his involvement with the Senior Center and Pioneer Historical Society brought him hours of joy. Jerry found the most pleasure from his relationship with the “Pinochle Bunch,” a group of friends who played cards, told stories, laughed, cried and supported each other for over 45 years.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Valerie Scheffer and husband, Ken of Windsor, CO and Kim MacDonnell and husband, Mark of Las Animas, CO; and his brother, Frank Bryant and wife, Pat of Las Animas, CO. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Chelsea, Ryland, Scott, Nick and Sarah and 3 great grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Ayden, and by many other relatives and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, C P and Charlotte Bryant; and the love of his life, Faye Bryant.
