Comedy Returns to the Lamar Eagles Halloween Night

On Halloween night, October 31st, 2014 the Lamar Chamber of Commerce Honkers, Two for the Road Entertainment and the Lamar Eagles will once again host another fantastic night of GREAT comedy at the Lamar Eagles Aerie in Lamar, CO. It will start with a meal prepared by the Lamar Eagles Auxiliary consisting of brats, potato salad, pork & beans and chips for only $7.00 a plate and will be available from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. The Comedy Show will start at 7:30 p.m. with Feature Mike Jones, and closing with the Headliner, John Novosad, a.k.a. “Hippieman”.

Directly after the Comedy Show, DJ Mark will be playing some of the best new and old dance music along with some classic Halloween songs. There will be a costume contest with the winners announced at 11:30 that evening. There will cash prize money of $75 for First Place, $50 for Second Place, and $25 for Third Place.

The Lamar Eagles Auxiliary will be using a portion of the proceeds from the meal to help a few local charities including, Toys for Tots, Child Protection, and the Domestic Safety Resource Center. The Auxiliary would like to provide toys, clothes, books, blankets, etc.. to the children in Prowers County that are going through a hard time. The main goal for the Auxiliary is to help Prowers County children as much as they can.

The Lamar Honkers will also be donating a portion of their proceeds to a local charity. In the past, they have donated to the Southeast Colorado Cancer Initiative, The Remember Foundation and helped Janea Aguilera’s family to defray expenses in her fight against cancer. The Honkers have purchased a portable sound system, a digital projector and screen, and with the help of the Lamar Eagles, a durable portable stage for Chamber member use for a small rental fee. All of this has been made possible because the wonderful people in Lamar and Prowers County like to have a good laugh and good time to help support a cause including the Lamar Chamber of Commerce and some local deserving charities. Comedian Bios

Hippyman

John Novosad, a.k.a. “Hippieman” is a stand-up comedian based out of the Comedy Works in Denver, Colorado. John has performed in clubs, theatres and weird little coffee houses across the country for almost three decades. Yes, there were some day jobs along the way.

John grew up in Boulder, Colorado – which is a damn good place to be from if you’re Hippieman. He made his comedic debut sometime around 1980 at the Blue Note in Boulder. John has toured extensively over the years and continues to do so. He’s also a featured performer at The Comedy Works, sharing the stage with some of the biggest national acts working today.

John made his network television debut on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, has written a screenplay – Hippieman: The Movie and is currently working on a comedy pilot.

In the future John will continue to perform and develop Hippieman’s Plan for America – comedic solutions to our nation’s problems. And be happy.

Mike Jones

MIKE just left the nest and moved to the big city of Denver. At the age of 28 he still asks as many questions as he did as a kid, while his animated personality resembles that of a cartoon character and his shaky stage presences that are fueled by caffeine keeps audiences ENTHRALLED (5$ word!!) as to what’s next. Mike’s witty observations and overly positive off the wall views about everyday life keeps audience members rolling in laughter. Mike will keep you on the edge of your seat wanting MORE!!

Mike has opened for some great Comedians like John Witherspoon, Gay Owen, and John Caparulo.
